Keeping your ankles and legs warm is essential for any dance student or dance teacher.
As a dance student you should have a pair of leg warmers on when you are warming up for your class. They are easy to slip on and off in between your dance classes.
When it comes to leg warmers, there are a number of different styles that you can choose from. Some ankle and leg warmers come with a stirrup, which will keep the whole ankle warm and they sit nicely over your ballet shoes, pointe shoes or teaching shoes.
If you are more interested in keeping your lower leg and calf muscles warm, due to tightness from lots of lower leg work including petit allegro and pointe work, then you should look for leg warmers that have a gather at the ankle and the knee. This will help the leg warmers to stay in place and not roll down the leg making them more comfortable to dance in.
You can also buy full length leg warmers, which come all the way up the thigh. These are particularly useful if you need to keep your hamstrings and knees warm but don’t want to put a full tracksuit bottom on.
